I PAY TRIBUTE TO A YOUNG MAN WHOSE SENSELESS DEATH BROUGHT A NATION TO ITS KNEES TWO YEARS AGO. LIKE MOST PEOPLE I DIDNT KNOW DERRION BUT I WATCHED IN HORROR AS HE TOOK HIS LAST BREATH AT THE HANDS OF PEERS OF HIS OWN COMMUNITY. EVEN OVER TWO YEARS LATER, I STILL THINK ABOUT THAT DAY IN SEPTEMBER WHEN THE WORLD WAS INTRODUCED TO DERRION ABLBERT, A YOUNG MAN WHO WAS SO FULL OF PROMISE AND POTENTIAL , NEVER GAVE HIS MAMA ANY TROUBLE AND WAS A DEVOTED BIG BROTHER. GOD WAS GROOMING HIM FOR SOMETHING MORE GREATER AND BIGGER THAN WE COULD IMAGINE. HES WALKING AMONG KINGS AND HE DOESNT HAVE A WORRY IN THE WORLD. HE IS SAFE NOW AND I AM QUITE SURE HIS NEIGHBORHOOD IS A LITTLE BIT BETTER PLACE BECAUSE OF BRUTAL MURDER THAT TOUCHED THE HEARTS OF MILLIONS. THERE ARE NO WORDS THAT I CAN EXPRESS THAT WILL TAKE THE GRIEF FROM HIS MOTHER HOWEVER, I CAN OFFER HER MY PRAYERS AND MY FAITH THAT I HAVE IN OUR FATHER. I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS YOUNG MAN BECAUSE HE WOKE ME UP AND MADE ME AWARE OF PROBLEMS IN OTHER PLACES . I WAS ALREADY AWARE OF THE CRIME STATISTICS IN CHICAGO AND HOW THE YOUTH ARE CONSTANTLY DESTROYING ONE ANOTHER . THERE WERE MANY BEFORE DERRION AND THERE HAVE BEEN MANY MORE AFTER HIM BUT THIS BABY BOY REALLY AND TRULY TOUCHED MY HEART AND MY SOUL. HES MORE THAN A STATISTIC ,... HE IS DERRION ALBERT , A BOY WHO WALKED TO SCHOOL BUT NEVER MADE IT BACK HOME. GOOD NIGHT DERRION. I HAVE TRIED SO HARD TO PUT YOU TO REST IN MY MIND. THERES A LESSON AND A REASON IN THIS SOMEWHERE. God wants his Angels

To the family and Friends of Derrion Albert, I did not know him, but this tragedy has hit all who have a heart. I am so very sorry for your lost of your loved one and I hope and pray that god gives you all the peace your heart desires. When I first saw the video when it happened 2 years ago I cried myself sick, now 2 years later it has the same impact on me and I can never understand why someone would react to another human being in such a way. I am over joyed that justice was served to those involved in this incident. I will continue to pray for all who has lost a love one, and pray that our young men will wake up and really think about what is important in life.
